Men's Lacrosse: Mount Union Closes Season With Win Over Wilmington

ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union's men's lacrosse team closed their 2015 campaign with a 19-10 win over Wilmington Saturday night at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.

The Purple Raiders (5-9, 2-4 OAC) were led by Chris Daley (Wilmington, Del./Dupont) who scored three goals and set a school record with five assists. Michael Taylor (Broadview Heights/Brecksville) scored four goals and Josh Stephens (North Canton/Green) added three more goals in the win.

Collin Peters (Portland, Ore./Sunset) earned his fifth win in goal by making 11 saves and giving up four goals.

Wilmington (9-7, 1-5 OAC) was led by Devon Maki with five goals and Reid Delaney with four goals and an assist.

Before the game Mount Union honored Matt Milano (North Canton/Hoover) in his last home game.

Wilmington got on the board first with a goal at the 14:33 mark before Mount Union got a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead. The Quakers tied the game at 2-2 but the Raiders rattled off five unanswered goals to take a 7-2 lead after the first quarter.

Mount Union's defense blanked Wilmington in the second quarter and added a pair of goals to make the count 9-2 at the half.

The two teams traded a pair of goals early in the third quarter until Stephens scored three goals in the last seven minutes of the quarter making the score 16-5 going to the fourth.

Wilmington made a final push with a pair of goals from Maki and a pair of goals from Delaney but the Mount Union lead was enough to give it a 19-10 win.
