The University of Mount Union Purple Raiders are one of the most dominant and successful football programs at any level in the country. Established in 1893, the program transformed into a powerhouse under legendary head coach Larry Kehres, who took the reins in 1986 and led the team to an astonishing 11 national championships before retiring in 2012. In total, Mount Union has captured an NCAA-record 13 NCAA Division III National Championships (Stagg Bowls). The Raiders hold the top two win streak records across all divisions: 55 straight wins (2000–2003) and 54 consecutive wins (1996–1999), along with 34 undefeated regular seasons. Mount Union has produced numerous NFL talents and Super Bowl champions. Operating out of Kehres Stadium in Alliance, Ohio, the Purple Raiders have maintained their culture and standard of excellence, including 36 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) titles and a perennial status as national championship contenders.

The official game program cover from the only meeting between Mount Union and Ohio State University. It was the 1930 season opener, played on September 27 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus. The Buckeyes won the game 59-0.
